Lotenhulle is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It has been a borough of Aalter since the mergers of 1977. It covers an area of 1766 ha and has a population of 2249 (on 01/01/2004).
The name has a Frankish origin. Lo comes from lauha, which means "small wooded area", and hulle comes from hulja, which means "sandy soil or slope". As a decoration with Lochristi, which was originally also called Lo, -ten-Hulle was added to the name.
