The Ludvina Cross was erected in 1782 in the Belgian town of Brakelbos in memory of Ludvina Bruggelinck, a 21-year-old girl from the Bosstraat, who was murdered in this place in the forest on 16 June 1738. There are several stories about this murder.
Jean Baptist Van Loo, parish priest of Opbrakel at the end of the 19th century, wrote in his Opbrakel mixtures: According to popular tradition, this abomination would be the fact of a passing horseman, who, driven by a fierce temper, would have molested the daughter because she was busy with grass. Although known, the perpetrator managed to evade justice by evasion. A wooden cross still shows the place where the scoundrel was committed
