Matonge is a neighborhood in the Brussels municipality of Ixelles. The area is sometimes referred to as "Little Zaire" because of the many Congolese immigrants. It is a true working-class neighborhood with various businesses (wikipedia, n.d.).
The neighborhood is located between the Waversesteenweg and the Elsensesteenweg, just below the Petit CE ring near the Namur Gate (wikipedia, n.d.).
At the corner of Solvaystraat and Waversesteenweg (N4) stands the statue Au-delà de l'espoir. This artwork was designed in 2007 to commemorate the twinning between Ixelles and Kinshasa.
