Villa 1900 and 'le Vieux Waulsort' reflect the atmosphere of the belle époque. The village has indeed preserved the facades of the illustrious hotels, but the elegant ladies with their parasols have disappeared from the streets. In the early 20th century, this holiday resort on the banks of the river was a favorite destination for wealthy tourists. Either one went to the sea, to Ostend, or to the Ardennes, to Waulsort. And one would go there by train. The railway line no longer exists, but the small station still bears witness to the fun days spent there.
