On the left bank and overlooking the Semois, this former slate quarry is accessed by two entries at the edge of a forest path. The underground network of Laplet consists of: - an upstream entrance made up of a relatively horizontal main gallery through which the slate was evacuated using a small train and various lateral galleries; - a downstream entrance made up of a horizontal main gallery branching almost at a right angle after 40 meters (CSIS website of the DGRNE).
Public Access: Private site. Access to the galleries is prohibited. Visits are conducted for the annual counts of the IRSNB.
Type: Site of Great Biological Interest (SGIB)
