The Lûjeu wood is located south of the city of Thuin. It is adjacent to the Grand Bon Dieu wood, from which it is separated by the Biesmelle, a small tributary of the Sambre. Spanning about fifty hectares, it is mainly composed of an acidophilic Atlantic oak-hornbeam forest. The herbaceous layer is characterized by the abundance of bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta). The site holds significant faunal interest. The honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus), the northern goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), and the middle spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos medius) are among the flagship species of the avifauna. An emblematic insect, the great capricorn (Cerambyx cerdo), has been observed there recently, in what appears to be the only known breeding site in Wallonia for this species of community interest.
