Located in the Sambre valley south of Thuin, the Bois du Grand Bon Dieu is a popular walking spot for local residents. It mainly consists of an oak-hornbeam forest whose Atlantic character is emphasized by the abundance of holly (Ilex aquifolium), medlar (Mespilus germanica), and bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta). Well-lit sandstone outcrops, though very limited in size, support a vegetation of heath and siliceous grassland, notably with heather (Calluna vulgaris) and sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella). These rocks also host a remarkable lichen flora.
