Groeningen Castle was inhabited for centuries by the lords of Kontich who had power over the area. From 1830 onwards, the castle came into the possession of the Della Faille family, who still live there today. Around the castle, a circle of water is fed by the Mandoer brook. This watercourse has its source in the nearby municipality of Reet. The avenues, the park and a number of buildings in the area are protected as a townscape. The castle is privately owned. Be sure to stroll along the beautiful avenues and catch a glimpse of this mysterious estate.
