The Lokeren Mill was located at the place between Merodelei, Spoorbaan, and Kadasterstraat. Because it usually produced the most during leases, it was perhaps the most important mill in Turnhout. A post mill for grinding grain had been here since before 1403. In 1544-1545, the mill was renewed.
In 1780, the post mill was demolished and replaced by a stone tower mill at the same location.
In 1789, it witnessed the Battle of Turnhout between the Patriots and the Austrians.
During the funeral service of representative Pieter De Nef on November 15, 1844, a mass of people followed this event from the gallery. This gallery collapsed under the weight, resulting in the death of several people.
In 1927, the mill was demolished.
