The work ‘Vélo-droom’, by Jan Clement from 2018, refers to the 2 vanished velodromes (cycling tracks) that Liedekerke had between 1919 and 1955. In 1919, the first cement velodrome in Liedekerke was opened between the current Velodroomstraat, Sint-Gabriëlstraat, the current Nieuwstraat, and Bombardonstraat. It gave cycling enthusiasts the chance to be cheered on by the public and compete against each other. A second Velodrome was built (after the demolition of the first racing track in 1933) 20 meters from the first one in 1946 and was demolished again in 1955. The 2 cyclists are made of stainless steel, for which Jan collaborated with the Liedekerks metal company Lippens.
