The name 'Broekbeemd' says it all: in this piece of nature it is possible
be wet once. This nature reserve is located in the valley of the Herk and contains
native groves, pollard willows, hawthorn hedges, but also a limestone swamp.
That lime swamp (or alkaline peat bog) is very rare. There are also a lot of
some resources in the area. The water is collected in pools and
then flows to the Herk. The area is now maintained by
the Limburg Landscape.
