The Sint-Leonardus Institute was originally a sanatorium for nursing women in need of rest. Later it became a residential care center.
The neo-Gothic building dates from 1902 and has a total of 46 bedrooms, six of which served as service flats. It also includes a director's house to be renovated and a former school. The total area covers 12,000 square meters, of which 3,550 square meters is habitable space.
Sisters of Mercy Agnes, Yvonne and Lutgard will conclude in August 2020 a period of one hundred and twenty years in which they devoted themselves to education and care.
In 2022 the building was still for sale.
