This war memorial in Dinant commemorates the victims of August 23, 1914 . On Sunday August 23, 1914, the Germans committed the most terrible acts of violence against the civilian population and most of Dinant's buildings were destroyed. A total of 674 residents, including women, the elderly and children, are killed by the Germans.
At this site, named after the owner Mur Tschoffen, 116 civilians were killed by the grenadiers of Unit 100 of the Saxon Guard.
