In this historic building, dating from 1699, Cambrinus has been portrayed twice . The first time as a statue , sitting on a large beer keg with a foaming beer pot in hand, on the corner of the facade. Engraved the second time in a beautiful milk window , which is on the side of the building, accompanied by a woman.
The tavern offers a rich assortment of Belgian beers , with a total of more than 400 different types.
You can also order prepared dishes while tasting the beer. Great care has therefore been taken to provide a rich gastronomic beer kitchen.
In beer tasting Café Cambrinus they have a filling machine with 20 beers on barrel. Take your favorite beer home in a refillable liter bottle.
Cambrinus, the King of Beer, often mentioned in student songs, is known as the King of Beer in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, as well as in other European countries. (long before Bud). Over time, Cambrinus has often been labeled as Jan I Primus, Nobleman of Brabant. He is said to be the inventor of the Brussels Faro and Lambic. In all cases, he is a legendary king, regarded by many as the inventor of beer. A German tribe, known as 'Gambrivii' and mentioned by the Roman historian Tacitus, is also said to underlie the name. Another version tells that he was the lord of Cambrai (now located in France, but previously part of Flanders, known as 'Kamerrijk') and that Cambrinus would be the Latin version of his title.
