This altar of rest is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
It was paid for by the residents of Heure during World War II .
In the Catholic liturgy, a rest altar is an altar, usually located in a chapel but sometimes outdoors. It is used during a procession , especially during the sacramental procession. Here the custodian (vessel in which the Host is displayed) is set up for worship for a period of time.
An altar of rest can be permanent (altar of eternal rest), but it can also be temporary in nature .
