The Fond des Ails is a valley where a winding and delicate tributary of the Argentine flows. Its banks are mainly composed of ashes and alders (ash-alder forest), planted in 1987. From late April to early June, it is enchanting! The river and its banks are whitened by flowering bear garlic. Typical of old forests, this bulbous plant has star-shaped flowers of a fresh white. The leaves, reminiscent of those of lily of the valley, emit a strong smell of garlic. The plant possesses all the virtues of garlic: vitamin C content, purifying, antiseptic, antiparasitic, weight-reducing, and regenerating, nothing less! And in cooking, it proves to be delicious (pesto, etc.). Legends tell that bears used to gorge on it, hence its name.
