The artwork refers to space .
It is an ode to change, to movement, to infinite space according to artist Frederic Geurts. Normally a work of art is something you stop to think about , but there is no time for that on a roundabout . Motorists will initially think that, with the red and white lanes, it has something to do with road safety, but then realize that there is more to it.
In 1998 and 1999 Frank De Winne was commander of a squadron of Kleine Brogel airbase. The roundabout is named after him.
