The Maria Magdalena Chapel opposite J.B. Cardijnstraat 30 was built in 1858. It replaces the older and larger district chapel of Mekingen, one of the nine daughter churches of St. Peter's Church that disappeared around 1840. Above the door is the following text: 'This chapel was built in honour of Mary Magdalene by the inhabitants of Mekingen in 1858'. The chapel itself has several statues, including one of Mary Magdalene. Saint Mary Magdalene is invoked against the plague, warts and ulcers.
The chapel was renovated in 2016 on the initiative of the cultural council.
