St. Peter's Church dates back to the 11th century.
The church is dedicated to Saint Piat, Tournai's first Christian missionary . According to excavations in 1971, there was a Christian cemetery in the mid-fourth century, on which a Merovingian basilica was built in the early twentieth century.
The current church was built in the 11th century. A Gothic choir was built over the Romanesque nave in the 13th century. The church was expanded in the following centuries. In the 17th century, side chapels made of beech wood were built, depicting the legend of Notre-Dame d'Alsemberg and the legend of Saint-Hubert .
