This church probably replaced an oratory dedicated to Saints Timothy and Symphorian in the 12th century.
It is a Gothic building made of Maas limestone that has been renovated several times, but probably dates from the second half of the 15th century. It was an "independent" church because it was not a parsonage. In 1598, the Saint-Martin-en-Fouarge church was annexed.
In the summer of 1322, the Hutois, at odds with the county of Namur, confiscated the bells of the fortified castle of Wasseiges. They called the largest one "Wasseiges" and had it installed in the bell tower of the Saint-Mengold church in Huy.
Today, this desacralized church (since 1979) is a performance venue managed by the Center Culturel de l'Arrondissement de Huy.
