Just before the Second World War, the KW line was constructed to protect Belgium against a German invasion. About 400 bunkers were built between Koningshooikt and Waver. The name KW stands for the two extreme points.
As seen here, these were placed in "strategic" locations such as in this case the Margijsbosweg. Most bunkers have not been demolished and are now often ideal places for bats.
