This neo-Gothic gate was built in limestone in 1838 by Prince François-Joseph de Riquet de Caraman-Chimay on the site of an old Renaissance-style gate built by Charles de Croy around 1606.
The monument opens onto three semicircular arches , two of which are intended for pedestrians and one for vehicles, and is characterized by its frieze of three-lobed arches and its imposing archivolt on culottes. On either side, the princely coat of arms in white stone hangs above a phylactery with the motto "JUVAT PIETAS". An illegible inscription is engraved in the coping stone. Upstairs, the structure consists of an attic between double volutes and a triangular cushion decorated with a sphere and decorated with a faded cartouche.
