The Boembekemolen with Visitor Centre Flemish Ardennes - Boembekemolen is a watermill in the Zwalm valley in the Belgian village of Michelbeke on the border with Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove. The mill is located at the junction of the Zwalm and the Miners' Path. In 1544 the mill is first mentioned as the property of Count Lamoraal of Egmont, who leased the mill of eight mud to a certain Jan vanden Broeck. It was only in the aftermath of the French Revolution that the Boembeke mill, like so many other ecclesiastical and noble properties, ended up in private ownership. In the second half of the 19th century, the Boembeke mill gradually lost its late medieval appearance. Wooden parts were replaced by cast iron and the buildings themselves were also significantly expanded. Around 1900, the industrial era entered with the installation of a steam engine that was later replaced by the still present diesel engine.
