The Hoge Kempen National Park offers the largest forest and heathland landscapes in Flanders. Once again, you can walk a small day (15 km) here without encountering a single house and 85% on sand. So take some provisions with you. Along the way, you will get a beautiful view of a gravel pit that has partially become a nature reserve, the legendary Mechelse Heide, and the coal road that transported black gold to the Albert Canal for decades. Sometimes you feel like you are in the Ardennes.
You can start at the former station of As, which is now a café and an access gate to the national park.
