The nature run in Meerdaalwoud starts at the reception area De Speelberg in Sint-Joris-Weert (Oud-Heverlee) (Weertse dreef No. 25). There are three distances (4.8 km - 7.9 km - 15.2 km) and all three run 100% through one of the most beautiful forest areas in Flanders. The Meerdaalwoud is an ancient forest that formed after the last ice ages about 10,000 years ago. It has never been logged.

The short loop is almost flat, but in the two longer loops, there are some steep climbs. The steepest is the ascent to Tomberg. At this open spot in the forest, justice was administered in the Middle Ages. The two long loops pass through the semi-open, small-scale agricultural area between the Heverleebos and the Meerdaalwoud, with magnificent views as you jog along the majestic Herculesdreef. You also run past the beautifully maintained vineyards (over 10 hectares) of Chardonnay Meerdael.

For the children who are jogging along, the play forest, the barbecue area, and the camping area - all not far from the start - are places they will definitely want to return to later. Anyone who takes their litter home and keeps their car out of the forest is welcome.
