Steina is a Saxon municipality in the district of Bautzen and a member of the administrative community of Pulsnitz.
Steina is located about 30 kilometers north of Dresden, between Kamenz and Pulsnitz at the edge of the Lusatian Highlands in the West Lausitz landscape protection area. The village extends - as a typical row village with forest fields - over more than 7 kilometers and is divided into the districts of Weißbach, Niedersteina, and Obersteina. The Weißbach, a tributary of the Haselbach, flows through the village and merges into the Pulsnitz near Reichenau. A distinctive feature of Steina is its proximity to the low mountain range, with the terrain dominated by the Schwedenstein.
