Großzschocher is a district in the southwest of Leipzig. After the merger with Windorf in 1897, the municipality of Großzschocher-Windorf was formed, which was incorporated into Leipzig in 1922. Großzschocher is located on the White Elster River. The administrative district of Großzschocher, which also includes the districts of Lauer, Mark Flickert, Windorf, and parts of Knauthain, belongs to the South-West city district.
Around 1450, Großzschocher had great significance in the Leipzig area and therefore made some expenditures. The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon district office of Leipzig until 1856. In 1571, a large part of the village was destroyed by a lightning strike.
