Großzschocher es un distrito en el suroeste de Leipzig. Después de la fusión con Windorf en 1897, se formó la comunidad Großzschocher-Windorf, que fue anexada a Leipzig en 1922. Großzschocher se encuentra a orillas de la Weißen Elster. El distrito administrativo de Großzschocher, que también incluye los barrios de Lauer, Mark Flickert, Windorf y partes de Knauthain, forma parte del distrito de Südwest.
Alrededor de 1450, Großzschocher tenía una gran importancia en los alrededores de Leipzig y, por lo tanto, incurría en algunos gastos. El lugar perteneció hasta 1856 a la administración del distrito de curso sajón o royal sajón de Leipzig. En 1571, una gran parte del pueblo fue destruida por un rayo.
