Großzschocher est un quartier au sud-ouest de Leipzig. Après la fusion avec Windorf en 1897, la commune de Großzschocher-Windorf a été créée, qui a été intégrée à Leipzig en 1922. Großzschocher se situe sur la Weiße Elster. Le quartier administratif de Großzschocher, qui comprend également les quartiers de Lauer, Mark Flickert, Windorf et une partie de Knauthain, fait partie de l'arrondissement de Südwest.
Vers 1450, Großzschocher avait une grande importance dans les environs de Leipzig et s'est donc permis certaines dépenses. Le village appartenait jusqu'en 1856 au bureau du cercle électoral saxon ou au bureau royal saxon de Leipzig. En 1571, une grande partie du village a été détruite par la foudre.
