Westhoven borders to the north on Humboldt/Gremberg, to the northeast on Gremberghoven, to the east on Ensen, to the south on the Rhine, and to the northwest with the A4 motorway on Poll. South, on the left bank of the Rhine, lies the district of Rodenkirchen.
The first signs of human existence were found in the Younger Stone Age. These include remains of the Rössener culture. A small bowl was discovered in a brick pit, which is decorated with horizontal rows of wide indentations. On the other hand, it was mixed with remains of the Michelsberg culture, as the site contained small pieces of pottery.
