The gypsum mine in Neckarzimmern in the Neckar-Odenwald district is an extensive tunnel system, covering approximately 170,000 m² and over 40 km of roads and railway lines used by the Bundeswehr. The original gypsum mine, the Hornberg pit dating back to the 18th century, already played an important role in the wartime economy during both World Wars. Some of the access routes are directly located at the B 27.
