The mustard mill Monschau is located at Laufenstraße 118 in Monschau. The Laufenbach, a tributary of the Rur, flows past the mill. The owner and operator is the Breuer family in the fifth generation. Both the buildings and the technical equipment are listed as historical monuments.
The family has been producing mustard since 1882, originally at Holzmarkt, then without using a mill. The mustard mill was then built where the water wheel is still located today. Initially, the mill was powered by the water wheel, later by a steam engine, and then by the motor that is still used today. The move with all equipment to the current location took place in the 1950s. The raw material for the mustard is obtained through cold milling, and today over 20 different varieties of mustard are offered.
