The Deutschlandhaus is today an office and commercial building in the city center of Essen on Lindenallee. It was built in 1928 and 1929 as a technical town hall and is regarded as the city's first high-rise building. Since 1988, it has been a listed building.
In the 18th century, it was still a preferred residential area for wealthy citizens, but the area between Trentelgasse, Kapuzinergasse, Hirschlandplatz, and Lindenallee quickly developed into a modern city center during the municipal reorganization, particularly characterized as a banking district.
