The Grabowsee sanatorium is a former lung sanatorium located by Grabowsee in the Oberhavel district of Brandenburg. It was the first sanatorium for lung tuberculosis in North Germany and was founded in 1896 by the German Red Cross. After World War II, it was used as a Soviet hospital from 1945 to 1995. The site is now a popular backdrop for films and photography.
The former lung sanatorium is located about 30 km north of Berlin, in the urban area of Oranienburg. It is separated from the Oranienburg district of Friedrichsthal by the nearby Oder-Havel Canal. The approximately 34-hectare area is surrounded by forest on two sides and shores on the south and west sides into Grabowsee. The Berlin-Copenhagen cycling path runs directly past the site.
