Prieros was first mentioned in a document in 1314 and emerged from a Slavic settlement on the Schadlischka mountain. The fishing and farming village, which later grew as a Rundling around a village meadow, became an excursion and holiday resort at the beginning of the 20th century and stretches along the waters Dahme, Schmölde, Langer See, Streganzer See and Tiefer See.
In 1992, it merged with eleven other municipalities to form the Amt of Friedersdorf. Since 26 October 2003, Prieros with its approx. 1000 inhabitants has been a district of the municipality of Heidesee.
