The Magdeburg-Buckau railway station is located on the railway lines Magdeburg-Leipzig and Magdeburg-Thale in the Magdeburg district of Buckau. The branching route Biederitz-Magdeburg-Buckau is no longer in operation and has been dismantled. To the north of the station, there is a connecting curve to the railway line Braunschweig-Magdeburg.
The current station building was constructed from 1926 to 1928, replacing a predecessor structure that stood about 200 meters to the south. It is a brick building with a hipped roof; the entrance features a four-axis risalit with a semi-circular canopy. At the time, it was one of the most modern railway station buildings in Germany and is now a listed building.
