The landscape between Saxony and Bohemia has inspired the painters of the Romantic period. The bizarre rock formations of the Elbe sandstone reminded the Swiss artists Adrian Zingg and Anton Graff at their home. So did one of the most beautiful regions of Germany on their behalf: Saxon Switzerland or Sächsische Schweiz. The 93.5 square kilometer National Park Saxony is located just 40 kilometers south of Dresden.
