The Volksbank Chemnitz eG is the second largest cooperative bank in eastern Germany, based in Chemnitz.
The legal foundations of the bank are its bylaws and the Cooperative Societies Act. The organs of the cooperative bank are the management board, the supervisory board, and the representatives' assembly. The bank is affiliated with the officially recognized BVR Institutssicherung GmbH and the additional voluntary protection scheme of the Federal Association of German Cooperative Banks and Raiffeisen Banks e.V.
The Volksbank Chemnitz eG was founded on September 19, 1869. After the merger in 2003 with the Raiffeisenbank Werdau-Zwickau, the merger with the Volksbank Erzgebirge followed in 2012.
