The pumping station Petershörn drains the approximately 33,100 hectares large area of the drainage association Bockhorn-Friedeburg through the Dangaster Tief into the Jade Bay.
The pumping station was built in Petersgroden from 1959 to 1962 and stands on a pile foundation 7–11 m deep made of 900 wooden piles. It is equipped with four bucket-wheel pumps that can collectively pump 48 m³/s. The technology was completely renewed between 2010 and 2012, and an extensive monitoring and control function was retrofitted. Since then, the sub-pumping stations Hiddels, Sanderahm, Güstfenne, Gooseschloot, and Kalbschloot can be operated remotely from the control center of the pumping station Petershörn.
