The Unteres Helletal nature reserve is a 34.2-hectare nature reserve in the urban area of Winterberg, west of Elkeringhausen. The area was designated in 2008 by the Hochsauerland district with the Winterberg landscape plan. As early as 1992, the area of today's NSG had been designated by ordinance as a nature reserve Im Boden. The NSG is also part of the FFH area of the Glindfeld-Orketal Forest Reserve.
