Schopflochberg is a nature reserve designated by the regulation of the Tübingen government presidium on December 10, 1993, with the number 4.233.
The nature reserve is located in the natural regions of Mittlere Kuppenalb and Mittlere Flächenalb. It encompasses the summit and slopes of the Schopflochberg, located approximately 600 m west of Trailfingen. The semi-dry grasslands of the area form a biotope network with the semi-dry grasslands of other nature reserves in the northern region of Münsingen: Höhnriß-Neuben, Kälberberg-Hochberg, Seetalhalde-Galgenberg, and Eckenlauh-Weißgerberberg. The protected area is part of the FFH area No. 7523-311 Münsinger Alb and is entirely located within the Swabian Jura biosphere reserve.
