Cunnersdorf is located southeast of the Saxon state capital Dresden in Saxon Switzerland and in the sandstone Elbe Mountains. It is located in the east of the region of Saxon Switzerland and the Eastern Ore Mountains, in the Landscape Protection Area of Saxon Switzerland. To the north of Cunnersdorf, but outside its meadows, rises the Gohrisch and to the northwest the Pfaffenstein, two table mountains.
The Waldhufendorf is located roughly in the centre of the municipality of Gohrisch. The village is located between 270 and 320 m above sea level in a basin in the valley of the Cunnersdorfer Bach, which flows into the Biela on the right above the district of Hütten in the Königsstein. Even today, three-sided farmhouses with a sandstone substructure and half-timbered floors can be seen in Cunnersdorf, including the Forsthof to the south with a manor house, farm buildings and a gatehouse, which belonged to the von Friesen family and finally to von Haebler.
