The location is situated north of the core city of Kremmen along the country road L 19 and at Lake Beetzer. Southwest extends the nature reserve Kremmener Luch, which covers around 1186 hectares.
In Beetz, there are archaeological evidence of a settlement from prehistory, a burial ground from the Bronze Age, a settlement from the Roman imperial period, and a medieval castle with a village. The lordship belonged to the von Redern family from around 1400 until the 17th century.
