Due to the unique location of the city, cycling tours in and around Rees can also be combined very well with a ride on the Rhine as well as across the Rhine. For example, the passenger ferry "Rääße Pöntje" takes adventure-hungry cyclists between Rees and Reeserschanz across the more than 300-metre-wide Rhine river (ferry season: Palm Sunday to last Sunday in October, Wed., Fri., Sat., Sun. and on public holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., in October from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the NRW summer holidays also on Thursdays). In addition, the passenger ferry "Inseltreue B" between Grietherort and Grieth and the passenger ferry "Keer Tröch II" between Wesel-Bislich and Xanten-Beek are two other ferries for pedestrians and cyclists both upstream and downstream.
