Bessingen is a village on the Ith. Since 1973 it has been a district of the municipality of Coppenbrügge in the district of Hameln-Pyrmont in Lower Saxony.
Prehistoric finds of the corded pottery culture from the period from 2500 to 1700 BC have been made near Bessingen. However, there is no evidence of a settlement. The old name suffix "-hausen" points to its origin during the Migration Period in the 4th to 6th centuries. In 2012, Bessingen celebrated its 950th anniversary. The reason for this was the mention as "Batsingehusen" in a deed of donation from King Henry IV dated 9 March 1062.
