Großenheidorn is a village in the medium-sized town of Wunstorf in the Lower Saxony region of Hanover, which borders directly on the east of Steinhude. The village has about 3000 inhabitants.
Großenheidorn lies east of Steinhude; the places merge seamlessly into each other. In addition to the main town, there is also the small district of Großenheidorn Strand directly on the southeastern shore of the Steinhuder Meer. East of Großenheidorn, about 1 km away, are the village of Klein Heidorn and the Wunstorf Air Base with the Air Transport Squadron 62, which is based here, which is equipped with Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft.
