The village is best known for its Evinghausen Waldorf School, which was founded in 1970 from the former village school and consists of a kindergarten, school, library and Johanneshof as a curative education institution.
The Uptrup farming community with 42 inhabitants is part of Evinghausen and lies in the middle of a clearing of the Northern Teutoburg Forest-Wiehen Mountains Nature Park at an altitude of about 250 meters above sea level.
