Ophausen is situated on the slopes of the Bergisches Land. Neighboring places are Herfterath to the northeast, Müllerhof to the south, and Oberdreisbach to the west. Between Ophausen and the country road 350 lies the Bröltalpark campsite.
In 1901, the hamlet had 38 inhabitants. Here lived farmer Hilger Behr, farmer Peter Josef Büth, mason Heinrich Franken, farmer Joh. Albert Kreuzer, farmer Heinrich Josef Kröner, farmer widow Joh. Heinrich Schmitz, farmer Joh. Peter Schmitz, farmer Stephan Schmitz, and tailor Peter Josef Wippermann.
