Aschendorf is a place in the German municipality of Papenburg, Lower Saxony, and has a population of 8,444 according to the municipality's website. Before 1932, it was the main town of the district of Aschendorf, and between 1932 and 1977, it was the main town of the former Landkreis Aschendorf-Hümmling.
The place is located close to the A31 Emden-Ruhr area motorway. Exit 16, near the Dutch border at Bellingwolde, leads to the provincial road from the Dutch border via Rhede to Aschendorf. From here, it's just a 5 km drive northeast on the B 70 to Papenburg itself.
