Herb Route

The herb route leads through well-developed cycling and agricultural paths as well as county and country roads through an attractive cultural landscape - the herb region of Wiesteniederung. Diverse biotopes with wet meadows, marsh forests, moors, and the Wieste stream on one side and fallow and arable land on the other shape the landscape.

In the middle are idyllic villages with relics from bygone times. The water mill in Stuckenborstel, the Bible and labyrinth garden in Horstedt, the motor mill and the former home of the late writer Walter Kempowski "Haus Kreienhoop" in Nartum, the local heritage houses in Hesedorf and Sottrum, or the fieldstone churches in Gyhum and Sottrum invite you to make stops along the way.

During the bike tour, one should not miss the herbal specialties in the inns and restaurants along the route. In addition to the numerous herbs along the wayside, various establishments such as the Rühlemann herb garden in Horstedt, the Nartum herbal round, the Glinddamm herbal nature trail near Mulmshorn, Eschels Hoff in Benkel, and the lavender field in Stapel offer products and information on the topic of "herbs".
